Maybe it just my age, or the era in which I joined the internet, but I think I'm almost done with Facebook. I just find it hard to hold a meaningful discussion on Facebook. It's all memes, and while they can be humorous, They don't really provoke much thought.
If they do, and your ideas don't match up 100% with the current politically correct view, you risk social ostracism.
I think this is because if you can't encapsulate your philosophy in the proverbial 280 characters nobody is going to read it through to the end, or truly consider what you've written, and discuss it with you on it’s own merits. While message boards were also well know to have similar problems (Flame Wars), at least most members of a board would at least do you the honour of reading your entire post before they pilloried you for being a degenerate sociopath

I would have to agree with you, that maintaining a discussion or even starting one on Facebook is a struggle. The way that Facebook prioritizes stuff in your news feed, unless you are already following a thread or have been specifically called out on it, you might not see that posting for days. Or see it, scroll past it thinking you are going to get back to it, your newsfeed updates/reprioritizes and you won't be able to find that thing for days.
Or is that just me.
If you are going to have an ongoing discussion, particularly with multiple parties involved, best to do it one a messaging board specifically designed for that purpose.
That being said, I am not prepared to give up Facebook as my primary source for meaningless, mindless crap.

Yeah I have to agree trying to find any particular bit of Information after you've scrolled past it, is next to Impossibe. ( of course unless its in a low traffic group)
I do like that Facebook has made it possible to disable commenting in post on Groups, That way I can post things that appear Here on the Lair to inform members of Interesting material / discussions, and kinda force them to comment over here instead of on Facebook. ( HEHEHEHE )
Hey I'm not Unsympathetic, I like me some meaningless, mindless crap too

I use Facebook messenger to keep in contact with my friends and family far away. I'm not saying that Face book doesn't have it's place, or doesent serve a purpose, it does it just not a place to have any in depth convrsations, Mind you board have there flaws also but at least they're easier to read and a follwo the flow of the conversation (In General). Heck the ability to easily quote the person your responding to is already an Major improvemant over Facebook. I'm just wondering if there's room in peoples Heart's / Attention Spans for both Facebook and Midnight's Lair.

Not having ad banners interrupting your conversations is also really nice honestly.
