GRO (Global Research Organization)
In the wake of WWII, a few key scientist involved in creating computing machinery for the war effort came together and formed Compuware a privately held company dedicated to the advancement of technology using computational machines, or “computers” as they would later be called. It wasn’t long before Compuware came into its own and began supplying corporations and research institutions computers and management software required for their operation, as Compuware’s engineers continued to refine their technology began to offer smaller and more powerful computers to its clients, what had started as building sized machine now occupied only a small room. With the advances in science, brought about by the space program and the lunar landings, Compuware engineers again were able to make more astounding technological leaps forward and began supplying 'desktop' computers as a household item. With little competition early in the company’s history, Compuware quickly became one of the world’s most powerful technology corporations. IBM and Microsoft, their closest competitors, came up with their offerings within a couple of years, But, this time lag was sufficient to give Compuware opportunity to reinvest its considerable profits into further and more diversified R&D projects and because of this aggressive approach Compuware is now a leading player in many areas of emerging technology. From Electronics, Avionics and Robotics to Cybernetics, Cryogenics and Quantum Physics.
In 1985, Compuware created a subsidiary named Global Research Organization (GRO) in order to fund various research projects throughout the world. Today GRO is a Major source of Funding for the world’s private sector research, and as a result hold no less than 500 patents in its various portfolios and that number grows daily. GRO has been an undeniable force for innovation in the 20th century and is poised to drive technological advancement well into the 22nd century.
GRO's World Headquarters are located in the gleaming GRO Building just north of Commons Park in Vanguard City. From there the worlds top scientist and businessmen oversee today’s cutting edge research and development.
