Vanguard City Sports Teams!
=========================
The Vanguard Velocity - ( NHL Franchise )
The Vanguard City Vanguard - ( NFL Franchise )
===========================
The Vanguard Velocity
(NHL Franchise) The Velocity was founded in 1992 the same year as the Anaheim Might Ducks. The team has yet to win the Stanley cup but has made three plays off appearances 1995, 1998, 2002.
The Team Colors are red (field) and gold (trim). Their logo is a black puck inscribed with a golden Flying “V” over a diagonal lightning bolt.
The team is now coach by Pierre Charron a young Montréaler with a reputation for unconventional strategies. This is his first season as a major league coach, and the fans love him.
The Team is currently enjoying the longest winning streak in Franchise history and it look like they might have a decent shot at the cup this year especially with the new rules changes recently implemented by the League. Some of the coach’s detractors say that he’s pushing the team to had to early in the season, and that they will peak too soon. When asked if the team can keep up the winning pace the team captain Ladislav Kopachek says that with Coach Charron’s help the Velocity are going to take the cup this year. The Vanguard City
The Vanguard
(NFL Franchise) founded in 1963. (with the name Vanguard in your City Name, wouldn't *you* use it?) Team colors are Blue and Gold, same as the city colors. In 1980, the team requested to adopt the City Emblem as their team symbol.
After much negotiation and financial commitments for a percentage of all stadium receipts to go to local development projects in perpetuity, permission was granted to use the official city colors and the outer gold floral wreath and the city's motto but permission was denied to use the crest of City Hall and the State Motto (this latter restriction coming from the state, not the city).
The final crest adopted was the the gold wreath and the city's motto over a stylized flying V with a football passing through the two extended arms of the "V" as if they were a pair of goal-posts.
Note: The Proper name of the team is the The Vanguard City Vanguard although out-of-town sportscasters often get this wrong and announce the team as the Vanguard City Vanguards, pluralizing the name. This, of course, annoys local fans.
The team made it to the SuperBowl once (but did not win) and fans remain hopeful that they will make it again.
