Memorial Park
The tract of land that is now Memorial park was originally designated as the city commons. Following World War 2 it was rededicated to the home town heroes, both super powered and normal that paid the ultimate price to ensure Vanguard city’s citizens right to Live in a free and democratic country. In order to prepare the site for it role as a public park, Massive Landscaping was undertaken; the result is a park that is rivalled only by few others in the U.S.
In the center of the park in an area know locally as the glade, rests the Cenotaph. A massive stone structure topped by a life like bronze statues of the WWII heroes the Guardsman and the original Virago comforting the Unknown Soldier as he lays wounded and dying on the field of battle. Every year Vanguard City’s Veterans Day ceremonies are held at the base of the Cenotaph.
