Some thoughts I would like your feedback on and if you haven't got any fixed ideas, perhaps we should discuss as a group. - Unified team theme/origin (FF, X-Men, etc.) or random individuals thrown together (JLA, Avengers, etc.) - Pick powers or Random Power Generation I’m open to either option for both items. Present setting or near/far past? I'm intrigued either way. It's been a while since I last donned power armour or a cape. I’m pretty much thinking present day setting. Most Likely Montreal, But an alternate, more super-heroically appropriate version of Montreal. And I only say “alternate” because I don’t want us to be hamstrung by the reality of our Montreal. If we decide that there is a San Diego style Animal Park / Zoo in the east end, or on a new Island in the saint Laurence then in this version of Montreal Has One. Etc. 😊

Hey Guys: Just to make it easier on me to keep track of everything, I’d like to move the discussion over to the abandoned and Haunted Halls of Lair And it just feels more appropriate, I guess. Sounds good. For the next couple of days I may not be too available to participate much for the next week or so. Got dumped into a cluster-fuck of a project mid-afternoon today (with deliverables required prior to tomorrow). Major client, an essential service, wanting to mitigate risk during the Covid-19 crisis (i.e. how to cope if one element of their supply chain goes down). Not only their own production plants and distribution centers, but also their raw materials suppliers or distributors. Not my wheelhouse and multiple cooks make this mandate a muddled mess. So if I am quiet over the next few days, it is not from lack of interest, it is from lack of time. PS: has any consideration been given to ask Scott if he wants to round out our fourth member for this group. Erik, thoughts? Marc, do you think he'd be interested?
I have no problem with asking asking Scott join, in fact it might be nice to get some fresh blood. Marc can you approach him and See if he'd Be interested ?

Any further thoughts on character creation? - Common theme or eclectic Individuals? - Random power generation or point-built to order - If built to order, any guidelines/house rules we should know about?
Got replaced on that project from Hell and I have my weekend back again. Yay! So I should have time to dig out my MP rulebook.

- Well just so we're clear, could you give an examples of both in your opinion. What would you consider the characters from your Vanguard City Campaign?[/div] - I guess this partly depends on the answer to the point above, but the beauty of MP is that you can do either or a fusion of both. But I Must Say that Unless you have a Very Strong Character Concept, random would probably give you inspiration; whether you decide to tweak the randomly generate powers by shuffling points afterward would be up to the player at that point. - Well as long as you observe / stay reasonably within the Build caps as described in 2.1.16.5 BC and Ability Caps. Im not sure about the Beginning Character Point (CP) Levels yet as it will depend on what kinda game you guys wanna play, but it might be best since we're all learning this new version of the rules to stick to around 150 CP ( V&V 2 and MP Scale a little diferently).
That being said If you need a CP or two to achieve your vision of you character concept I won't bitch about it. There is a admonition in 2.1.16.3 Weaknesses that says that a character may take a Maximum (-20) point in Weaknesses but never above (-30). I think the reasoning for this is to keep characters from becoming crippled by their weaknesses to the point of being no fun to play, or the weaknesses are hollow and meaningless Character Point Pumps. You can take up to (-30) but don't complain when your more crippled than you though you'd be Hopefully I answered some of your questions

Well I haven't heard from Alex Or Scott, or any other interested parties at this point, so I'm going to assume that at this point the only interested Parties are PMikey & Dabo . We'll just have to work on finding other interested parties at a later date. Perhaps once this has successfully gotten off the ground.
Maybe Alex is waiting to see if something actually comes of this before joining (which I can kinda understand), or maybe since he is on hiatus form Norm's campaign he wouldn't feel right joining this endeavor at this time. I don't know why Scott hasn't contacted me on Faceboob, or joined the Lair (it's not like it costs anything ) , but he's still welcome at any point if he wishes.
So what kinda characters are you two interested in playing ?

I am not sure how often Alex is on Facebook these days (I rarely see any posts from him) and you were e-mailing him at the wrong address so he might not even know about this. As for Scott, again I'm not sure how often he is online.

- Well just so we're clear, could you give an examples of both in your opinion. What would you consider the characters from your Vanguard City Campaign? Example of common Origin: Fantastic Four Example of common Theme: X-Men (all mutants) Eclectic group of heroes: Avengers or Justice League The Crusaders of Vanguard City are a Paradox. There was a common event which triggered their powers and brought them together but their origins were very different. Your character was the only one who actually got his powers from Dr. Lazlo. The rest got their powers from a variety of sources. So...common Origin with very different origin types.

As for Scott, again I'm not sure how often he is online. I looked through the e-Mails I sent, and it was really only one of the e-Mails that was miss addressed so he should have gotten the others. I even sent him a text which he didn't respond to which is unusual, I'm gonna check in with him this afternoon again to see if he's O.k.

Hi guys! I finally registered. I'm still interested. As for type of teams a whatnot, I'm very ambivalent. Anything is cool. I played a hero style game one time. It wasn't memorable but that may have been the people I played with. Everything deserves a second chance. I think more mature (re: old guys) players will make it a better experience. I'll go with whatever you all want.

I propose a self-challenge. In honour of "the old days" of V&V (which probably only Erik and I remember), I propose we try to randomly roll our characters' powers and then try to come up with a character concept that works with those powers.
At least now we get to invest however much (or little) into the various powers to make the concept work.
Of course no one is going to know if you actually rolled them or not, so there's nothing to hold you to it, but it's an interesting creative exercise if you want to have fun with it.
Meanwhile, I still need to dig out my Mighty Protectors manual(s).

That sounds to good to me So as per the rules, you roll twice on each table. Offensive, Defensive, Miscellaneous, and weaknesses. You assign 20 points to four of the six powers. Then you can either drop the weaknesses, or use the points you gain from them to modify the powers you kept, or keep one / or both ( but at lesser power) of the ones you discarded. Any questions?
